Amid armed clashes and demonstrations of rejection to the Syrian de facto government, opponents created a military council for the liberation of that country from the current authorities and the Zionist occupation, which has taken control of areas in the south and maintains its threats.

In the early morning, while heavy fighting was taking place in areas of the governorates of Latakia (northwest) and Daraa (southwest), it became known of the creation of the referred military council, headed by Brigadier General Qiath Suleiman Dalla, former officer of the former Syrian Arab Army (SAA).

Through a statement(down below), the council clarified that its goal is to “liberate all Syrian territory from all terrorist and occupying forces, overthrow the current regime and dissolve all its repressive institutions.”

It urged Syrians from various sects, regions and ethnicities to “join our ranks and support us in this historic moment.”

The creation of this military council comes amidst allegations of house-breaking, looting, harassment of women, summary executions and other abuses committed by the HTS.

According to international media, in another statement released on Friday morning, Dalla defended that they do not condone sedition or division, but “like all honorable and free Syrians, we do not accept injustice, oppression and sectarianism. I call on everyone to be calm, to reject violence and to be patient,” all with the aim of avoiding bloodshed.

In addition to the above-mentioned fighting, in recent days there have been massive demonstrations in cities such as Tartous, Latakia and Homs, while areas of the country remain under occupation by Israel and the U.S. In the case of Tartous, the de facto government ordered shots to disperse civilians.
