So first of all, the only reason to do this is to achieve authoritarian control, simply because many people want more power. Power is the end goal, not what you want to do with that power, they simply want more of it. This is the overarching theme for all of their actions.

And yes, in a society where the general public has more power than the ruling class, theoretically, they have to get public support. “Protecting the children” sounds good to the general public. Read the article to see how the law is worded: “children’s rights to moral, physical and spiritual development supersede any right other than the right to life, including the right to peacefully assemble”

But the actual reason for why the war against LGBTQ specifically is popular, is a sentiment among many people that sexuality is evil, and only barely acceptable just to facilitate childbirth. If you look at LGBTQ, almost everything within it is for free sexuality, and if you’re gay, lesbian, trans, asexual for example, that theoretically directly goes against childbirth. Thus the rationale against LGBTQ is, they don’t want their kids turned LGBTQ by never even learning that it is an option for them. No public events => children never get in contact with it => children don’t become LGBTQ.

With all the interdependence we built up that’s hard to remove and would take decades, it’s kinda sensible to hope it can weather a few years of stupidity. It’s not entirely unreasonable to hope that after people seeing the first shitshow, it wouldn’t happen again.

Of course, you are theoretically completely right. But Greenland has absolutely 0 infrastructure, not even basics like roads between places, and almost no people, and Canada would resist so powerfully (they have nuclear weapons) that it’s also completely unrealistic.

Doesn’t the US have plenty of these materials, it’s just too expensive to mine it because of environmental protection legislation, wages, energy costs, missing infrastructure for it and so on? This wouldn’t change in Canada/Greenland.

This is a false view of humans behavior. All human behavior is logically sound, if you can’t figure out the logic in it, that’s on you, not on them “being illogical”.

Trump certainly has motivations and subconscious thought processes that can be reasoned about. They might not be based on true views about reality, which makes them “sound illogical”, but once you change your logical reasoning to not be based on an accurate depiction of reality, but based on the delusional version of reality inside Trump’s brain, then his actions do start to make logical sense within that framework.

The problem is accurately figuring out his views on reality and actually putting yourself in his delusional shoes. This is incredibly hard, I certainly can’t (and don’t want) to do it, I just don’t have the necessary information and way of obtaining it.

But also, regardless of that, Trump itself is mostly a puppet. There are people behind that actually work on more sound logic, but also have very false views of reality. Figuring out who is influencing what decision of the administration in exactly what way makes this whole explanation thing even harder.

You correctly identify it as futile, but for the wrong reasons, not because it’s illogical, but because too much information is hidden from you.

But… That’s already the case even with timezones… There already is an international date line where one side is a day off the other.

No one said it should be normal or is reasonable. They’re just saying it’s possible, which it is.
