What do you think will now happen? AfD will just disappear? East Germany will suddenly vote for conservatives or leftist? My point is - and it is funny that people don’t get it and just downvote me instead of engaging in a discussion - that it will very likely resolve nothing (I thought I am far away from the kindergarten in Reddit here, but it seems to be the same). You cannot stop a train just by painting it as “right extremist” - and I did not say that this is not true, but some are thinking presumably that THIS is the solution. It is not!
My point is simple: to bring this party and its poison down, you need to find the core problem and solve it. Otherwise you won’t take away people from the AfD, but you will make them support harder this party. This creates frustration and where this leads … just think about it a moment instead screaming against others. They have already surpassed the CDU thanks to stubborn people like you and others here.
I really don’t know if this was a smart move. It reminds me deeply of the Weimar Republic and the exclusion of the right extremists. Everybody knows how it went. The reason: deep frustration in the society about the politics. It is the same now and the current parties do nothing to calm down the situation. This is so dangerous!
I do not want the same to happen again in Germany that suddenly this will lead to a strengthening of the AfD, which will push the country further to the right while the AfD is playing well the victim card. At the end there will be a Führerin Alice Weidel.

11·8 months agoYou mean like the Ukrainians in Butcha or the many Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russians? It is that way that Russians were treated in Ukraine? I never heard about it, but perhaps RT has made a (pseudo-)documentary with paid actors out of it.
I have known few Russians, and in my experience, they often move to a new country with little intention to integrate (we had and have still parallel societies with Russians in Europe). It is also of no surprise to me that the Russians in the Baltic countries and Ukraine (and also in some other European countries) have little intention to learn the language of the country, which is driven by nationalism, dominance, and pride.

11·8 months agoBut there was an agreement, which was signed even by Russia that, when Ukraine gives up their nukes, Russia will NOT attack Ukraine. Ukraine gave up their nukes, and we see the fruits of this. I also do not think that all the history around NATO is the main reason for Russias war against Ukraine. Already several times it was said that Putin wants to rebuild the Soviet power, just this time run by Russia and not the Soviet Union. Otherwise I do not understand why they are threatening to attack the Baltic states or Poland, which joined at a time when there was even no discussion about NATO thread or warnings from Russia. As said, this fits well in recreating the previous Russian influence with its satellite states than in any made up reason concerning the NATO.

31·8 months agoKaja Kallas is really awesome! She and her team are doing a great job. Happy to have her as a EU High Representative. It is also a great step to reach hand out to Moldova.
We have to start one day anyway and I do not want Russian soldiers say „hello” at the houses of people in the EU (even when Ukraine joins) - without at least not having paid a terrible price for it.

14·8 months agoIt is interesting to see how users here complain about Germany, when in Switzerland this practice is common since decades. Rarely heard that in Switzerland a foreigner did something atrocious and when, then, well, the Swiss passport is gone for sure with - often - a ban for years to enter the country. Result: little troubles with foreigners and efforts to from their side to be part of the Swiss society. Considering the fact that Switzerland has more foreigners than Germany, I think this procedure added to the success of Switzerland in terms of migration.

21·8 months agoThese idiots are from far East Germany. Worrisome? Yes. Unexpected? Absolutely not. The AfD is the strongest party in East Germany and thinking for themselves - as they claim so often (“Wir sind das Volk“ - „We are the people“) - is not their strength as they haven’t learned it during communism and forgot to learn it thereafter. Consequently, no consequences are taken and no efforts are made to think things through and improve, deepening that way the feeling that they are the losers which is simply their own fault and which is why they are falling for every right wing German proud shit.
The EU should ask Iran to stop supporting Russia in its war against Ukraine. This would be a deal to reduce or stop sanctions.

11·8 months agoI assume the biggest problem is that the people are taught for centuries to follow their leaders instead of thinking for themselves and acting accordingly. It is the mentality of the general Russian society I would say. A larger Russian population could for sure bring down the government and end the war by an instant, yet this remains sadly as it is, utopia.
I stopped buying books at Amazon, even they are cheaper. I want to keep Europe‘s economy running and that people have jobs in Europe, so already since last year - Trump was not the principal reason, the well being and work of us Europeans it was - I buy books at our local bookstore.
