I hope you’re right. Games have run like dogshit for at least the past 5 years or so, even with reasonably powerful hardware.
Unfortunately, I’m not very optimistic because of the Unreal Engine monoculture (except for a bunch of blessed indie games) in the gaining industry. It would most likely be Epic’s job to make their engine not perform like shit, which… 😬
This is a bit pendantic, but GitHub’s TOS allows users to fork your public repositories, regardless of its license.
You couldn’t modify the new code under the dipshit license, but you can do whatever you want to the slightly older code under the good license.
Sure, but that way of thinking seems to treat trying to avoid supporting bigots as some sort of “purity cult” game, and it’s not. Just because there’s no ethical consumption under capitalism, that doesn’t excuse people to make highly unethical purchases.
Of course you can’t perfectly avoid any bigoted shitheads from having worked on something you buy, but you wouldn’t buy a game where the majority of the royalties go to David Duke, would you?
Some people are just doing the best they can to not support bigoted assholes, and when it comes to gaming, a market that exists purely for entertainment, and one that has millions of other options, that’s rather easy and practical to do.
Do those one-off bigots that perhaps lended some labor to said games get royalties for the IP? If not, then this comparison is not even close to valid with a billionaire bigot raking in more wealth based on an IP they poisoned.

I love my Steam Deck, but I can barely play most games on low settings and I get like 40-50 FPS with a 90Hz screen.
We need more powerful hardware. I’d prefer that it comes from Valve, but I’ll take what I can get, as long as it’s optimized for SteamOS/Linux.
I’ve cloned a drive from my LCD to use in my OLED. It’s mostly fine, but occasionally (every few days), the interface would crash. Weirdly, those crashes went away with time, so maybe an update resolved the crashing I was experiencing?
If you want to reliably leave your games on standby for any amount of time, it’s probably best to use a fresh image instead of reusing the existing installation from the LCD model.

1080p is a terrible way to “upgrade” your Steam Deck.
This is so true. The state of gaming on the Steam Deck is great right now. Even the foreboding unsupported status is only ever really a problem with asinine anti-cheat, and that’s just like a handful of games that aren’t worth playing in the first place.
Lula is so fucking great. He’s literally just backing up the courts that are applying the law fairly and as-written, which is more than I can say for most leaders.
It’s missing trackpads, which is a pretty big oversight for a device like that.
It’s almost everything. You can play most games on Linux. You can’t bolt-on the quality of life features that Valve has on Windows.
There’s a reason most Steam Deck users don’t install Windows on it, even though you can.
Yes. I use SteamOS and Bazzite (I have multiple TVs with different computers for this) with Steam Big Picture mode as my sole streaming interface. Here are some decent Linux apps for various streaming services:
Just add those as “non-steam games” and you’re mostly good to go. For some apps, like Jellyfin, you need to enable keyboard navigation (a.k.a. “gamepad controls”).
Get yourself one of these if you’d like a mostly seamless remote control experience (depending on how well each streaming app/wrapper works with keyboard/gamepad navigation). Easily the best $25 I ever spent.
