I’d argue it be clearer between round brackets instead of behind a comma like states in the U.S.:
Paris (France) over Paris, France.
There’s a Paris, TX, Paris, TN, probably tons more, that could make local news confusing.
There’s probably 2-3 Paris in the US.
Same thing happens with Latin America and Spain. There’s maybe an Almería in America.
There’s like 8-9
Paris is in Texas too, so for some Texans ‘going to Paris’ will refer to that one instead.
