I can always tell with food. In the Midwest you don’t dare use any spice except salt and maybe some rosemary on Christmas. Anything else is too fancy. The West Coast has their own style, northeast has chowder and seafood, except salmon which is the PNW. Interesting how they all separate.

I use it on my HTPC. It’s pretty nice, but there are definitely some bugs and quirks. It’s basically the handheld steam version, but with some better support. Agree that “Game-Changer” is clickbait.

Nope, even then, think of how much QA would go into something like this. They probably have 6-8 months of features that were built on this kernel. Upgrading the kernel before would mean needing to redo everything - all of the QA, UAT, months of prep work. Companies who hold up these big releases for us aren’t like us just clicking perform upgrade, it’s a massive process that needs signoffs and confirmations. That’s why I say they probably just drew a line in the sand and said “We can’t risk destabilizing it just to perform an upgrade” - or for all we know they did do the upgrade, realized it broke something critical, and decided against it.

We all know if they rolled out a broken release everyone would be on every forum with pitchforks calling Valve the devil. They weren’t just being idiots by not upgrading.

At some point you have to draw the line in the sand and say this is what we’re updating to for this release, we’ll update again for the next one. I compare it to Star citizen, who kept updating to the latest and greatest and never delivered a product. I don’t care that you upgraded to the latest engine update, finish the product.

You’re right, subbed in Netflix for some reason - but Youtube TV though acts in the same way, I don’t believe they allow anything > 720. Free youtube is different, paid Youtube TV will throttle

Not to be snarky, but welcome to the true frustrations against corporations. They view linux users (like you now) as pirating monsters, and in their eyes giving us even 1080 means that they’re giving their content over to pirates. Which is ironic because I think that sort of behavior encourages pirating.

So it’s nothing you did, nothing is broken, it’s functioning as Netflix wants it to. It’ll be the same with all of the other providers.

And it’s absolutely Microsoft’s cycle. New game changer product comes on the market, they rush a half ass version out with the promise of a really good one later, half ass one flops, they scrap the whole idea because no one wants the half ass version, they fade into obscurity.

As someone who fell for the “Swap over to Fat32 and you’ll gain so much space” back in the day, I feel like I need to point out to newbies here, anything done to your file system has quite a bit of risk. Things can go wrong in a way that are unrecoverable unless you full reset your device. I’m not saying this project is unstable, but there is a high amount of risk involved with this.

If you decide to do this, back up all data that you may need saved and then mentally prepare that you may ultimately end up resetting your device in the end. These are real possibilities when messing with file systems.
